Fascinating Early Space Flight Films
This is a fascinating collection of two early space race
films showing the early steps that were taken in preparation
for a manned space flight.
The first film is Trailblazer in Space. This 9 minute black
and white newsreel records in details the adventures of Ham,
including preparations and the chimp's 18 minute space flight
and landing.
The second film is a silent color film highlighting two very
early manned encapsulatet ejection capsule tests. You will
see the capsules being ejected from airplanes, follow their
flight to the ground and the astronaut safely emerging after
it touched down on land. What is most fascinating is that
these are land based landings whereas the NASA program later
chose to do water based landings for its landing capsules.
This DVD has a total run time of approximately 25 minutes.
