Joe Kittinger, Jr. left Caribou, Maine, at 8:23 p.m. September 14, 1984, in Rosie O'Grady's Balloon of Peace. He remained aloft more than 83 hours, covering a distance of 3,543 miles before landing near Montenotte, Italy, at 2:08 p.m. on September 18, 1984, The cover contained in this presentation album was carried aboard the Transatlantic Solo Flight by Aeronaut Kittinger and is personally signed by him. The postmarks show the date and place of departure from North America and the date and place of arrival in Europe. Each is serially numbered and contains flight details ont he cachet. A piece of fabric from the balloon of Peace is attached to his card. This is a signed and numbered piece 0049 of 2992. It is also signed to an editor from the National Geographic Magazine.
